The Caixa Contemporânea 14" x 15 cm – Alegria Edition (Red) is an essential instrument in any Brazilian percussion group, equivalent to the clear snare drum of a traditional drum set, but adapted to the demands of batucada and street formations.
Equipped with a metal bell , a nylon head , and a snare head , it offers a crisp, bright, and full-bodied sound, ideal for marking breaks, riffs, and rhythmic patterns with great projection. Its shell has a thicker wall than other brands , resulting in a sound with more body, power, and character .
Thanks to its lightweight construction and an approximate weight of 2.19 kg , this caixa is very comfortable for parades, extended rehearsals, and mobile performances. It can be played at waist level or slung over the shoulder , adapting to different styles and group configurations.
Originally inspired by the boxes used by military bands, the caixa reached batucada formations in the 1950s, quickly becoming one of the most important instruments in street percussion.
The Alegria Edition in red provides a vibrant, modern and eye-catching look, ideal for groups seeking visual presence as well as a strong and defined sound.
